Been reported - A six figure investment in making good the CBS Arena pitch, which hopefully will
allow Coventry City FC to begin their championship home campaign on a decent playing surface.
A extensive 2 week programme of work began on Wednesday 17th August 2022, & is hopefully
it will be completed for the home game against Preston North End on the 31st August 2022.
A turf & stitch technique using heavy duty machinery will insure the stability, & relative quality
of the playing surface, for the remainder of the season.
Coventry City view it very much a short term fix.
Coventry City signed a 10 year lease in March 2021, after a undertaking pledge by the landlords
[Wasps] to re-lay the pitch this summer.
But the landlords [Wasps] say, they informed Coventry City FC in May 2022, that a new pitch
would not be re-layed during the close season.
The work being carried out is to, replacing the worst affected & damaged areas of the grass, so
won't be a complete pitch that is being re-layed.
Its been reported that Coventry City FC were looking at claiming compensation, regarding lost
revenue from games postponed, & are worried what the EFL will do at their next meeting, to
whether a fine or points loss could be given.
It was mentioned that Rotherham United were fined around £400,000 in 2021 for not putting
teams out during the covid pandemic.
