Time to judge Barnsley FC by their actions.
It was on Monday 8th August that the Supporters Trust led the crusade to get answers about who at Barnsley FC did the deal with Hex and what, if any, due diligence was done into Hex before signing.
On a separate, but linked issue, Barnsley FC were looking into social media abuse, particularly homophobia, from Hexicans on the Club's Official Twitter Account, complaints raised by individual fans and the Rainbow Reds, on Saturday evening 6th August. After the displaying of the Hex logo and the headline "HEXcellent result" by BFC following the Cheltenham game the club, on the following Friday, responded to the fans complaints realising it's error and ended it's relationship with Hex with immediate effect but left the issues of who did the deal and what due diligence was done hanging in the air with a holding statement of, " Further comment will be issued in due course". (12th August0
Some 18 days later after the matters were raised by the Supporters Trust on the 8th August, no such comment, as promised by BFC, has been published.
Perhaps the club anticipated fans would forget the matter, perhaps they intend to push the matter into the long grass of "Q&A Sessions" where nodding heads respond to evasive answers, similar to the issue of the £750K taken from club funds to pay for the first instalment of buying the club, and the issue dies a slow death.
Maybe the issue of Hex has become too sensitive to reveal anything further. Did a Board member suggest it ? Was it Ahmad's work alone done in a rush before some members of the Board assembled for the first home game ? Who is being protected and why ?
My judgement (opinion) on these actions--Spectemur Agendo-- is that Barnsley Football Club has broken it's promise to communicate with fans in a reasonable time frame and this is not an acceptable way to treat it's fans.
