Apparently on his way to Stoke to take the managers job there ?
Sunderland players devastated ?
Will this be good for us next Wednesday or will it galvanise their club ?
Any disruption is good
Tony mowbray set to be new sunderland boss it said on soccer Saturday.
Got to be financial.
Personally Neil could have reached revered status at Sunderland. 35,000-40,000 attendances. An absolutely massive club.
Leaves for a club who at best are inconsistent but have a wealthy owner.
Nathan Jones failed as did Gary Rowett before him, the latter also leaving a big club at Derby to take up the poison chalice.
Sunderland are definitely a team on the up, and were highly impressive in patches against Norwich. If he had kept it going at Sunderland, Neil would have attracted courtiers more attractive than Stoke.
I find it very difficult to understand this decision but what do I know?
He's been offered twice at Stoke what he was getting at Sunderland. The greedy sod has used Sunderland and they are not happy.Loyalty? LOL.
MB, Neill wasn’t under any contract at Sunderland. He took over when Johnson left but wasn’t offered any contract at all.
He took Sunderland up at the first time of asking and again no contract was put forward to him in order to tie him down. If anyone is to blame it’s the Sunderland board for not offering him a contract. Neill was under no obligation to stay whatsoever.
Their loss, Stokes gain. Well done Neill for bettering himself.

As I understand it Neil is on a rolling contract at Sunderland presumably Stoke have offered him a longer contract/more money he owes Sunderland nothing they were treading water when he took over from Johnson he’s done a great job arguably it’s a downward step what with Sunderland’s attendances but whi wouldn’t crave a bit of security in today’s market
A bloke leaves a job for another for reasons pretty much known only to himself and perhaps his nearest and dearest. Done great at Sunderland . His stock has risen.
