    MB, Neill wasn’t under any contract at Sunderland. He took over when Johnson left but wasn’t offered any contract at all.

    He took Sunderland up at the first time of asking and again no contract was put forward to him in order to tie him down. If anyone is to blame it’s the Sunderland board for not offering him a contract. Neill was under no obligation to stay whatsoever.

    Their loss, Stokes gain. Well done Neill for bettering himself.
