The way I see it is that this season is the classic transitional period , the finances or lack of them are the only show in town and dictate the narrative .
The club in league one will at least for now still have enough brand clout to attract the better players who have run their contracts down or released by their previous clubs , previous examples would be Alfie Mawson , Josh Scowen and Andy Yiadom .
That in itself will probably be enough to keep the club in league one whilst managed on the field with someone such as Duff who at least seems to have half a clue .
However to compete at the top end of this league will require the star quality adding , the Connor Hourihane or the Sam Winnall if you will plus some hit the ground loans such as Brownhill or Fletcher .
The club at this moment in time is in a similar position when we went down under Danny Wilson in 2015 .
The huge difference is Patrick would have loaned the club the money to add the star quality but today that's not going to happen .
There's a real possibility that stagnation will kick in because treading water in league one isn't what the club with its history , infrastructure and potential fan base is set up to be about .
There are some real sirens going off with further stagnation more likely if investment isn't forthcoming than a return any time soon to the championship .
I'd kindly suggest a bit of backing for this HC is forthcoming , the next one in might well come from a sector of the market with less credentials .
