Security like I said is a key factor in all of this and neither player knows what their fitness levels will be like in say 2 years. At least they will have the added security of a longer contract to feed off.
I said to get them interested Brin to sign almost a year ahead of when they need to. Otherwise they can both just wait and see as next year they will both be 26 with possibly the 3 prime years of their careers looming.

We need to get the ownership of the Seattle Mariners baseball team in at RUFC with their attitude towards speculating to accumulate. As statistically the worst team in MLB over the past 20 years they have just signed their 21 year old 'phenom' to what could end up being an 18 year, $470M deal. At 21 I was on a RMBC student grant of around 1500 quid

There's never been a better opportunity to invest in this club than now.

I think we are getting ahead of ourselves here, we cannot offer Chieo or any of our bigger players a better deal than a normally bigger club would offer them. Hopefully nobody will leave before end of transfer window but who knows? xx

Some of it will depend on whether we can negotiate summat like a 40% wage drop if we go down, dunno how common those clauses are now though

So just how much is enough ? you have no idea ! Players and agents have it all worked out now to a fine art, it happens in ever league they have watched players moving on frees and realise they can get much more by running your contracts out ! it’s happening at Chelsea , Man City , Liverpool etc !! Your living in the past. ? Why do you think you are better at running the clubs finances than the club is ? Leave the running of the club to the ones that matter, your job is like mine ? supporting the club !

Pointless thread brin and a cheap shot at the club suggesting they are not doing owt to sign the best players to longer contract.
For all we know Dan and Chio have been offered the same amount Smith and Ike was.
Ok what would you do if you offered them both 15k per week and both said no. Where would you go then? Would you just keep offering until they accepted? Would you say fek u then and sell them both? Or would you let them try to keep us up and hope no one comes in for them and hope they resign on the summer?

We need about five years in the Championship to be regarded as a stable second tier club. Even then we'll still be Little Rotherham to everyone else.
We are having an amazing time in our history. Let's just enjoy it while we can.

Icky had already made his mind up.

The club offered Smith X to stay. His agent went straight to Wednesday and said Rotherham have offered X so Wednesday offered Y and smith and his agent chose the money in a league he knows he can get a goal and promotion bonus over another perceived relegation battle.

The whole thing seems to have galvanised us as a team on the pitch and hopefully we have learned the lesson going forward.

Just enjoy it while it lasts. We are currently going through the most successful period in or history as a club.

Maybe they know what they’re doing after all.

The Machiavellians and benefactors of the whole thing are the agents but every player ( unless you’re KD has one.
