That’s brilliant! I recon you could make a killing selling scarves as well!

That is both brilliant and simple, the two best ingredients in a good idea...

I could get this done but it’s a heck of a financial risk.

It’d need an upfront order and payment to a supplier ( probably in China ) and probably 7 months to arrive once a design has been agreed.

Then there’s no guarantee they’d sell.

The club could ban the sale of merchandise around the ground as you need a permit to sell by the stadium.

The only way to do this is to be willing to burn £50k getting them made and then give them away.

I am no expert at organising protests - maybe we need someone with a Trade Union background who knows the protocols. But I think it needs to start small ... like a snowball rolling down hill gathering momentum and getting bigger. For example:

As far as I know this is a free country, so no-one can stop us organising a peaceful protest at 1pm on (say) 3pm kick off match days near the ground. We can have banners, scarves anything we bloody like. We have some ties to journalists who we could invite along to be take photos and do interviews. Maybe a specially designed scarf as Mick said is a step too far at the outset .. so why not pick a protest colour ... like Man Utd do with their Green and Yellow against the Glazers. Let’s have some bright red communist party scarves ... people can put whatever message they want. I did a cursory review on the internet and you can get a personalised scarf for about £10 with the letters LAI OUT - SAVE THE ALBION printed on it.

At the end of the day we can’t force Lai to sell or get Fat Ron sacked or even Bruce for that matter. But we can shine a light on the b****t going on at our club. Unfit Chinese owner asset stripping. Underhand financial skullduggery and dubious practices. Community club being ruined for financial gain. Questions for the FA about football ownership. Get the local MP involved. We could try to boycott attending home games .... but this is like trying to wean fans off their weekly fix of football. Probably not going to happen ... but start small.

My feeling is there are thousands of people out there who really care about the Albion, have supported them all their lives and are angry enough to try to do something if only it could be organised. For many if Albion win or lose it makes their whole weekend. Yet we have this b*****t owner taking the p***.every week that goes by.

We have a choice folks ... stand by and idly watch our club sink lower and lower .... or actually try to do something about it.

How long will it take before Lai can recoup his money? Am I correct in thinking that he paid around £180 million for the club? Am I also correct in thinking that the parachute payments, on average, work out at about £100 million? If so, add the money pocketed from transfers etc. could he do it after one more season? I admit that I have no expertise in football finance and that's why I'm asking these questions.

He won't recoup his original investment, which I believe was around £165M.
He has pulled some money out but he has also allowed money for reinvesting in the first few years. But immediately within about four months of his company taking over the CP of China introduced legislation to stop over seas investment (it was seen as away for Chinese to take foreign currency out of the country)
So other then our own generated monies he has not been able to put money in and ran it along the lines of what we generate we can spend. Most of any surplus goes into the huge wages demanded now even in this league.

His problems have been compounded by the covid virus and also the huge debt mountain that looks likely to bring down the CP in China.
He is one of those rushing to increase his liquidity but selling assets in a downturn is clearly not the best time.
While the world is focused on the war and covid, China is beginning to show signs of stress in their economy, mainly due to the property market teetering on the edge of the abyss...
None of which bodes well for him off loading any time soon. I believe there was an interested party last summer but it quickly faded away as the price offered would have left him with a capital loss of over a hundred million on his original investment.
A year later and he is in dire situation. Don't expect any money coming from him for transfer any time soon.
