The point i was trying to get across is there was more input from the players with Tam and Liam last season, its clear that Ross was doing it his way and the players were told to get on with it.Due to the way things were done with Courts and Fox the Ross tenure was an unmitigated disaster because the senior players or in fact perhaps all of them were not willing to be dictated to.

Under Jim McLean i reckon the current players would have relegated us no problem.Nae danger were they taking any of his shyte.

I wonder if MO & TA know all of this. They're wasting their time appointing a manager if that's all true. Just let the players run the club.

Think it's a load of nonsense myself, Courts by all accounts is no mug and much harder than people think, not one you'd cross apparently despite the way he comes across in interviews

He was the right man for us longer term imo but chose to go try something else abroad, fair enough he done a decent job good first time managing a big club

Fox I'm not sure about, time will tell, don't think we should rush into appointing him if he is the current front runner, we didn't with Houston

Having met him a few times in his working environment, this a a very accurate description of the guy.

It's the head coach's job to get the best out of the players available. JR clearly wasn't able to do that and that is a bad reflection on him rather than the players, IMHO.

Yup the players on the pitch who lost by a record home defeat of 0-9 were not to blame.

Can't see where I've said that and clearly that's not right. Of course they need to shoulder some of the blame but, ultimately, it's the head coach's responsibility and therefore them that take the fall. Otherwise what's the proposition? We sack all the players who were involved? Not entirely practical that is it?

In a case where the new coach comes in if the players refuse to follow instructions the coach should be telling TA about that.
It's then up to TA to address the players and tell them this is your new coach and if you don't like it please ask for your contract to be ripped up here and now.
Maybe this happened maybe it didn't, I have no idea, but something went very badly wrong.
As a result no decent manager would want to come near us.
Ross shouldn't have changed to a back 4 so quickly and his wafer thin middle 3 was a joke, but this has all the hallmarks of a player hoping for a promotion.

    Speculation obviously.

I'm actually surprised that Stewart Petrie of Montrose hasn't been mentioned for the managers job. He's done a more than decent job with them has a good bit of experience too. If it was between him or Kevin Thomson - I'd take Petrie. Surely Petrie would find the job irresistible to turn down with him being a boyhood United fan
