An out of contract player with no public interest been shown in him from other clubs (that I am aware of) and we seem to take an age to conclude the deal.

And don’t forget he hasn’t had a pre season with anyone so you can imagine it will be just before the World Cup break that he will be ready to start any matches.
Why isn’t he at least trining with us now. If he has refused then unless he is fit enough I would tell him we ain’t interested if he can’t show that commitment.
Surely if he wants to sign for us he should be keen to get fit so he can get into the team as soon as he can.
