I haven't checked your posting history and won't be but from memory you were very anti Val'. While I could see the on paper logic of appointing Bruce I'd have preferred someone else too. It was all very lazy and very Alan Pardew. Someone else I didn't want here either.

Well, I can honestly say that I hated the way that we played under Ismael and was very vociferous about it. Unfortunately, the football may be better under Bruce but the results aren't!

Your memory fails you, I was very much the opposite and had some ”debates” with eg viaductbaggie who, very early on, jumped on ”the anti Val bandwagon”.

When I look back over our last few managers, I think they all left the club too early. Val, Bilic, Moore - I would have kept them all on for longer and I thought we were premature in sacking all of them.

Pardew was a disaster and should have gone earlier and I understood why Pulis went, his time was up I thought.

As for Bruce, it's okay saying get rid of him - but then we go through the same cycle again of someone coming in, evaluating the squad and getting in their own backroom team and type of player they want that fits their formation/style of play. The only way I would get rid of him is if someone exceptional was available, I think Dyche would be brilliant, but I don't think we'd stand any chance of getting him.

Other than that - who else is out there? I'm just fed up with changing managers every 6-12 months. It really isn't very productive for us.

Bilic is the only one of those who I would have kept, full of passion for the game. Moore should never have been given the job in the first place.

Fair enough Thomas I'm not going to argue, I've had a number of s hits since then hence the loss of memory 😉 .

Totally agree with you Des! Moore was clueless and some of his tactics and formations cost us so many points! Even Wednesday supporters say he has no plan B. As for appointing Jimmy Shan - my God he cost us promotion by parking the bus at Vile and now he's been found out and since leaving West Brom!

Some say keep Bruce! So should we keep going and then 100% blow the play offs even if there's a slight possibility!!! Bruce was a disaster at Newcastle and since Val was sacked he's taken us backwards! Some of the performances have not been poor but absolutely shocking with players showing no desire or hunger - basics!

To say there's nobody else is pure stupid - ask Sheffield Utd who are playing great football with Heckingbottom who managed in the Scottish league like McInnes. Talking of which a past player who can show the PASSION we are missing like McInnes!

Even Greening could get Scarborough promoted again the way he's going there! They love him there!

    NO DINOSAURS PLEASE!!!! Bruce Out!

Fair enough, that it was this platform is for - differing opinions.

I think my overall point is, why bring in a manager with his backroom staff, buy players that suit his formation/style of play, in some cases give them a long contract (like Val) and then sack them the first time we go on a bad run?

When Moore got sacked we were 4th, when Val got sacked we were 5th. When Bilic got sacked we were in the premier league, 18 months after taking over and being given 2 years to get us there. There was still ample time in each of those seasons for us to get promoted / stay up with the time left available. In the end we changed managers and didn't achieve those aims, so in my view those managerial changes failed.

Our management appointment approach is not logical, and very short-term thinking. We bring managers into firefight almost every time. We sack managers every time we go on a bad run. Dyche spent 8 years at Burnley, Ferguson spent 25 years at Man U, Wenger spent 20+ years at Arsenal, do you not think these managers ever went on bad runs?

I'm not saying blindly keep a manager on, I'm saying there's no point in sacking Bruce, unless there's a worthy successor who we are going to back long term and buy into their philosophy. Its why I was quite happy when Val came in, I thought we'd get a degree of stability.

If we're going to sack Bruce with no one else in mind, bring someone else in eventually after a long search and then chop them as soon as they go on a bad run, I just don't see what the point is.

I know it won't be a popular view but i would keep Bruce. We simply can't keep changing manager every five minutes. He has had only one transfer period to improve the squad and the recent new arrivals are good despite the lack of any money to spend. He has also been a bit unlucky with a couple of key injuries. I would like to give him the January window and then see where we are.
