Exactly. With the players at his disposal, JR should've done far better. Similar I guess to those claiming Thomsons success was purely down to Keltys budget. He still had to get the best out of those players, and by all accounts, he did.

Jim McLean didn't have a managerial record. What he did have was a plan where he had everyone fit and when he was the manager, no matter the opposition, you would see a team go out and try to win it. At the time I mind thinking that our pre season with Jack Ross looked a bit jovial and a bit of a piss about--put it down to JR trying to build a rapport with the players.
