My comment was a dispassionate and disinterested view of a very difficult situation and the actions taken.

I express no opinion on the worth or otherwise of the monarchy. Having studied Constitutional Law as part of my degree, I understand how the system works. Whether or not it should replaced is another matter.

The Swiss system works very well for its people. It is far more based on consensus and plebiscites. People are not as dogmatic in their political views and are more interested in what is best for the country. There is no such thing as a “red wall” or “blue wall” constituency in Switzerland.

I am not sure that the system works well for Britain and its many problems.
