There's a reason why that manager list is so threadbare.....
Thing is, almost to a fan we wanted JR sacked, so I'm not sure we can have too many complaints about the length of time. I sit and think about it at times and it's mind blowing that we sacked a manager after six games, but the manner of those defeats had us spiralling out of the league imo, even at this early stage. F*ck, even TTT wanted the boy gone. That's when you know. 😂

But yeah, the calibre of candidates is a result of us being a basket case of a club when it comes to managerial appointments.

Worst shortlist ever none of them should be a Utd manager

From the worst-looking shortlist you might actually get a manager who does well. Look at the situation we find ourselves in with Watt. Top scorer in the league with Motherwell, we spend big to get him. The unrest allegedly from this player coupled with his performances this season shows throwing money and hoping for a good outcome very rarely works for a club like United. Alex Mathie we spent big, Danny Griffin the same. I would say the only player we have spent big money on and it worked out well was Petric.

How did Jim McLean come to be appointed United manager? Who knew about his coaching abilities and was brave enough to offer him the job? What was it like when he was appointed? I wisnae around so I can't comment but he wouldn't have been many people's choice given he was a coach at Dundee FC I wouldn't have thought.

To be fair to Whitfield he consistently said we should be keeping JR and giving him a chance.

Honestly I can see both points of view but, ultimately, I think you are right that the results were so bad something needed to be done.

I believe JR only has himself to blame thinking he could come to a relatively successful formula and change everything at once. Crazy thinking, IMHO.

We are yet to know the whole story behind the scenes. What concerned me most was that JR thought he could do the job while living with his family in England.
