My main point to opening this thread is not whether this is a good OR bad appointment but who authorised this press release? What the hell is going on? If someone can give me several examples of this happening between other clubs then I will hold my hands up. If he is at the NYS on Monday everyone now knows, including the entire squad, that 48 hours earlier he actually didn't know himself whether he would be or not.I am not a football snob by any means,in fact I am not a snob in any aspect of life so we will use the well used phrase of the ''football pecking order''.We can't entice the manager of Cambridge, the manager of Exeter City 'needs time' to 'think about it' and has no problem what so ever informing the press of his dilemma.Meanwhile our previous Manger and ALL of his staff stampede down to Derby County within 24 hours without a whisper. Where are we in this 'pecking order'?
Jimmy, if you read the BBC article, his wife has recently given birth. It is perfectly understandable that he needs time to think this over.
The deal was done within 3 days because the negotiations between Warne and TS was short lived.
Warne had an offer from Derby, he told TS of the offer and what he was offered included and TS wouldn’t or the club couldn’t match it.
Warne accepted the offer.
Warne said nothing and TS told Scott to look for a replacement.
Derby released the info before we did
As far as I can see RUFC have played a straight bat:
"Rotherham United can confirm that the club has requested and subsequently been granted permission to speak to Exeter City manager Matt Taylor about the vacant manager’s position.
We can confirm that initial talks have taken place and remain ongoing.
Rotherham United will be making no further comment at this time."
Exeter, on the other hand, have made the mess:
"Exeter City Football Club can confirm an approach was received from Rotherham United to speak to manager Matt Taylor late this week.
The club reluctantly agreed to the request and we await confirmation from Matt regarding his decision as to whether he will accept Rotherham's offer.
A further statement will be released once more information is available."
Matt Taylor has also said pretty much the same thing to, amongst others, the BBC.
Unless I've missed something, Exeter need their knuckles rapping for this...and Taylor is well out of line.
