It was clear to see that there was no confidence or spark in that side.
One of Warne’s strengths was taking all the pressure off of the players by giving them credit for positives and taking the blame of any negatives upon himself.
The players all performed within themselves and didn’t take any responsibility.
Slagging off a young lad like wiles for having a bad game under the circumstances is the very opposite of supporting the team through a tough time.
Woody cannot be manager, coach, captain and a centre half. He needs to concentrate on his game and as much as I love him, it was plain to see his focus was all over the shop.
Hopefully we will have a manager in tomorrow and can build stability again.

Negatives- up front. Chio and Connor never won a header throughout the game. Wiles battled well but there was never an outlet from midfield today.

Think what you want but it’s time for the big boys up front with Kelly and Eaves and Chio back out wide, if we are to take a game to anyone like today.

We huffed and we puffed but we could never blow the Wigan house down.

Agree with most of that Brin.
Give Wigan credit, four away wins on the bounce. Well organised defensively, nullified our midfield and attack. We're lightweight up front and I would have preferred Kelly or Eaves on start of second half. Too many misplaced passes and too many players underperformed, don't take anything away from Wigan though, best team on the day won.

Victor was wayward with his goal kicks yesterday, Mercer needs to get him sorted on this.
Rathbone looked shocked at being subbed, Wiles should have been subbed instead.
We needed Kelly up front from the start, playing hoof ball does not work with Washington
    up front.
Eaves is a poor signing, he does not seem to have changed from when we had him on
    loan from Bolton Wanderers.
The referee one of the worst I have seen
Took note no fans singing, there's only one TS or TS give us a wave, which may come as
a shock to TS, & give him a kick start in getting someone in quick.
It showed yesterday that Peltier in the dug out, & Wood on the pitch are not the answer
    to a new manger-ship combo.

Onward to the game against Millwall.
start with Kelly, Ogbene out on the right, bring in Lindsay & put Wiles on the bench.

ben Wiles mental state cannot be good at the moment, he has lost the only manager he really knows, his personal mentor in Hamshaw and he knows that he missed out on a move to a bigger Championship club. Add to that he isn't playing anywhere near his best and the fans are getting on his back. That needs needs the support of the fans more than ever and the new manager to put an arm around him and get him refocused, because when he plays well we are a much better team

I couldn't go yesterday so can't comment on the game but it is important to realise that there were many under par performances under Warne at home in the Championship. There had to be because he was in charge over 3 relegations. In fact there were quite a few under par peformances at home in League 1 last season but you tend to get away with more, which on several occasions,we did.It certainly isn't beyond probability we could have lost yesterday had Warne still been here.A home defeat was due when you consider we are basically a quarter of the season in.

I’ve questioned his mental state well before now so you’re probably right with how it’s affecting him now.

We need new eyes in dugout who won’t be afraid to drop him, sub him if needs be but also get him back to what he’s capable of and more, he just seems lost atm

Agree Derby but if you are right then he needs to start growing up if he wants to make the career for himself that everyone thinks he is capable of.Football is full of comings and goings and that will never change.

    Mental state?

Dear oh dear, the Warne legacy rumbles on.

He's got the life of Riley, a lifestyle many would envy.

Actually on skill levels and individual players there isn't much to choose between the teams

Except we have the " nice" legacy but Wigan aren't " nice" and basically they steamrollered us.

Spot on about Wiles Jimmy, football for any player is how they cope on and off the pitch with things that happen, and he has to learn to deal with things that he can't control, such as our management team leaving, but concentrate on the things that he can control, which is his performances on the pitch.
Ironically I thought Ben had a really good first half but an awful second half and I'd have subbed him, couldn't believe they took an attacking midfielder off in Rathbone, to replace him with a defensive midfielder in Lindsay when Rathbone was playing well, and we are behind and chasing the game.
