The balance of our midfield is the worst iv ever seen and what's worse is they were trying to justify it in the middle of a transfer window when things could have been done about it.

More heads than Ross's should roll over it. This is not a scenario where we lost the steel through injuries, this is a self-inflicted disgrace! You would literally have to have no idea about football whatsoever to think that collective of midfielders could work.

Individually we have some decent players. Levitt, McGrath, in particular, can both play with another body in there to compliment them defensively but we have no-one and the entire team is suffering because of it.

And to think the stick Butch used to get. Was he limited in midfield? For sure but he gave us something we just don't have now. You are right though, it should have been dealt with but it appears JR reckoned we could do without or I'm sure he would have pushed it as a priority?

Im thinking he must have been out of budget and had no choice but to say that. Even teams with the best attacking midfields in the world have someone like that in their team. Its complete nonsense that anyone can think a much more limited set of lightweight midfielders could do it in a league where historically its been filled with hatchet men in midfield and the lightweight players need players in there to do the dirty work. I cant beleive Ross didn't know that, and if he didnt then he shouldnt be anywhere near a dugout again
