Thread: Time wasting during 90 minutes - ok or not ?

    It's so simple to fix..Just do what they do in Superleague and stop the clock everything there is an injury or a substitution..So simple to implement that the goons in charge won't use it.

    I believe Arson Wenger is a big advocate of clocking out of play. It’s no doubt spoiling the enjoyment of fans and pisses me off for sure. Refs seem to be clamping down on some but not all “fake” dives and the triple or quadruple rollover by a tackled player appears to be getting less attention by refs. I believe a stop watch official should be tried. Include all substitutions, kicking the ball away, throw ins and free kicks, corners. If the ball isn’t in play the watch is stopped. Simples.

    Sounds good in theory but think the problem is rugby is a game with pauses in the play whether league or union so you can do that more easily.

    Football is supposed to be more fluid and keep the ball in play for longer so I think it is as much about keeping the pace of the game going and stopping it being disrupted as it is about ensuring wasted time is captured.
