OT/Petrol station blast.

There is/was a clip on YouTube of a fuel delivery at a fuel station. It was dark so the driver used his torch on his phone, the tanker and the driver caught fire. It's not the fuel but the fumes. Maybe technology has changed but I wouldn't take the risk. Unlike some I can leave a phone alone for five minutes while I fill up.

You wouldn't have thought that that would be too much to ask would you but we still have to ask customers at our PFS to refrain from using their mobile phones on a reasonably regular basis. They may be low risk but -as studies showed-they are not designed to be used in such circumstances and close proximity to fuel or fuel vapours and so have no such safe-guards built in. Why anyone would risk it for the sake of a few minutes away from their phone I just don't get.

Recent similar explosions have been blamed on tampering to avoid payment. Just saying
