I’m finding it quite funny.

It’s like being in a snug listening to 2 blokes superglued to their seats at either side of the room having a pointless argument.

I see one poster that only comes on here to rubbish other folks messages and never puts forward an opinion of his own.

Do a lot of batch cooking, chillies, stews, spag boll, soups, curries, etc. Ideal foods for winter months.

Big batch spag bol is a good one because you can easily convert it to chilli later.

Shell Energy keep asking me to have one to "save money", like above, if making a brew costs so much and heating costs more, what do i cut out?
I like tattoo's and a fag now and then. My dog doesn't cost alot really. I really got a good deal on my Iphone 13....what do i do???

People are using electric blankets and electric throws, heating the person rather than the room. Won't help if there are power cuts.

There are also these oversize fleece hoodies that they sell at Matalan and Primark.

I would just wear an extra layer, an extra jumper or a gilet over your jumper.

Air fryers, pressure cookers, microwaves, steamers use less electricity than the oven.

Kettle only boil the water you need don't fill it up.

Turn the TV off at the wall instead of leaving on stand-by.

I'm just praying for a mild winter but I have got a fair few thick jumpers lined up in case. We got one of those smart meters this year as it entitled us to a cheaper tariff but the monitor's a waste of time really. It tells me I'm using more electric when I put the kettle on. Really? What am I supposed to do switch it off and have a cold drink? It won't alter my usage or save me money but I understand the electric companies like them 'cos it helps them to monitor usage more accurately.
I'm not telling anybody where I live.

The smart meters are a good indicator for solar panel systems. Not essential but they do help. All we do is wait until X amount is being produced by our panels before switching on the appliance.
Yesterday we did 3 loads of washing. Mrs baked some pies,. 2 meat one for today's lunch. One for the freezer and 2 apple. Plus the slow cooker doing a stew for tomorrow.
Checking the readings the solar covered half the usage which was 24.6kwh at today's cost would have been £8.36p.

We used to buy pukka pies but need to be cooked, so go to Morriston buy 4 ready cooked steak pies for £3, put them in freezer, just need warming up in microwave, our lass does a big pan sloppy peas, put em in containers in freezer. morrisons crafty put 2 steak pies for £2, but I tell we want 4 for £3 offer.
