Holding on to top spot (last five 5th tier seasons)

I don't think anyone expects us to stay top, so the historical stats I'd be most interested in seeing would be what happened at the end of the season to teams who had the same number of points as us after 13 games. Similarly, the same stats for teams on similar points tallies to those currently just below us.

Not sure I've explained that very well, but hopefully someone will understand!

So only 1 promoted, but 2 ought to have been as Torquay were robbed in the P/O final, if memory serves. Average finishing position of 6th. Well that's about par for us.

We have made a great start ... I thought it may be a three horse race but increasingly looking like it might only be two although there might be a couple of surprises. We need to avoid injuries though as we don't have much depth in the squad. Nearly a third of the way through the season now.

I think we are a better team though than Dover and Bromley were.

Yeah we are a little thin, but we do have certain players that can play in a couple of different positions if needed.

Baj, Francis & Chicks could fill in at the back, and Ruben can play further up if required.

Not ideal, but at least we have some flexibility in the squad if it comes to it.

A concern I have is whether we can continue with the intensive approach without causing injury to players. Hopefully the science and the physio staff are able to keep on top of that but I'd expect more problems such as JOB has had with muscle tears etc. especially as the season goes on and the winter time with heavier pitches. Fingers crossed that the concerns are unfounded.

Thanks UTM, really appreciated. Those stats seem to show there's a veeery long way to go. The way I look at it, every 3 points were get now are 3 points we won't need to be scrapping for on the last day.
