In 1974 me and the first wife were lent a caravan in a place called Back of Keppoch near Arisaig, the sun shone like blazes every day for a fortnight, I came back home to Accrington looking like I'd had two weeks in the Bahamas. Happy days Alf.

Lucky you, in 1971 I took the brand new Mrs S camping in an idyllic spot just outside Oban. At 10pm on the first night the rain swept in, it still hadn't stopped 36 hours later, so we packed up and went to my sister's in Cramlington where the sun was cracking the flagstones. She hasn't been in a tent since.

Actually mon ami, you could help me out, your recent stay in Devon has got me pining for another visit, we haven't been for years. Any recommendations, hotels or self catering, in the Dartmouth/Kingswear/Brixham area would be much appreciated.

We stayed in the Premier Inn at Paignton mon ami, cost us £90.00 a night but it's equidistant from Torquay and Brixham and the Kingswear ferries are only 6 miles away.

There's a great new restaurant idea with branches in Brixham and Torquay. Fish caught same day, served same day. I had the freshest oysters ever with the whitest monkfish that was delicious. Apparently, they have their own fishing boat and trade as ROCKFISH.

We visited both venues, the prices are reasonable, the food is superb. Great lunch in Totnes too! When I win the lottery it's a harbour fronted townhouse in Dartmouth for me.
