We want to go up so I agree with everything he has said.

If Langstaff gets a bad injury in a cup we have no chance in that would seriously put us back.

We saw how Chesterfield slipped when their main man got a bad injury we dont want that here.
Not a priority and a chance to run out some of the less frequent starters for sure but... wouldn't it be nice to get Liverpool or City at the Lane in Round 3!

Ha, I think that just shows how far we’ve fallen that you’ve assumed we’re in a division with Coalville. For what it’s worth I would also rest as many of the first team as possible. We’ve looked leggy at times in those 3 wins last week and a two week break might do a few the world of good.

There’s four I’d definitely be resting because they’re too important - Cameron, Palmer, Rodrigues and Langstaff. Stick them on the bench in case of emergency. Then we’ve got a few who haven’t played lots of football recently who could do with a game - Young, Bajrami, Francis, Castro, Adebayo-Rowling, Austin and Mitchell. So start them, plus Baldwin and Taylor if they’re fit enough to start their comebacks from injury.

    So maybe something like:

    Young
    Baldwin - Rawlinson - Bajrami
    TAR - Castro - Francis - Taylor
    Austin
    Scott - Mitchell
I’m not sure Baldwin will be risked… he’s just about training again.
Castro and Francis midfield looks at best, weak. Francis could be put in a heap of trouble with Castro who I think is more suited to the RR role that Austin will take. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Palmer play.

I agree you need to start with 2 questions; who needs to rest? who needs to play?

Cameron has to be top of the first list, why play with a broken news when you don't need to? Langstaff can have a break as well? Chicksen, if we have a replacement.
I wouldn't put Ruben on this list - he needs to see the ball go into the onion bag from open play, and he needs to play to top up fitness (something Ardley never got)

Who needs to play? The loanees, Scott I think (still hitting his stride), TAR, Austin...

You can't mean we are guaranteed a win so we only need play a below strength team - really??

You are advocating playing certain players just on the strength of them not having played in the first team for a while - why do you think that is?
    Made perfect sense to me.

Me as well. Play your strongest team and get the job done. We've hardly been playing Sat/Tues every week, have we? Barring Rectum, we've only played a game a week since the start of Oct.

Personally I think it’s more a case of giving the fringe players the chance to get some proper minutes on the pitch. So I’d expect to see Brad Young, TAR, Taylor if fit, Bajrami, Francis, Castro, Austin and Mitchell all to start and get a full 90 except Taylor. I understand Baldwin is not ready to be risked so I’m struggling with what the make up of the back 3 might be. Rawlinson, Scott and Ruben to make up the 11.

Could Taylor play left CB in this one? As otherwise mentioned young Brad McGovern got a run out at LWB in pre-season so may get a look in.
