The NL team that had the best run in the FA Cup last season was Boreham Wood - and their form fell badly away in the last few months of the season after their glut of games and, I assume, a smallish squad.

If we keep players fit and can maintain the current league form, yesterday’s disappointment will be worth it. But we won’t know that till later in the season. I also hope that our main rivals enjoy excellent cup runs, with lots of replays thrown in for good measure.

But if Notts go on good cup runs then have to play many more games close together. Also the further you get the more you have to play your first team making them more fatigued and maybe injured for the league. No thanks.

Me too. That game will tell us all we need to know whether it had a detrimental derailing effect or not. Do well in our next few games and I won't care one jot about yesterday's embarrasment.

I could be wrong but not sure Sidders had his facts right when he quoted Stockport, Lincoln would have been a far more valid example.

As mentioned above Borehamwood who had that fantastic lucrative and memorable cup run went to absolute toss immediately afterwards and till the end of the season. They could hardly win a game following their exit.

Now that's a prime example of a cup run having a bad impact on the day to day league matters. The difference before and after their game at Goodison Park couldn't have been more contrasting.

    Works both ways Sidders.

It will take a while longer for me to forget it, but of the two I would prefer 3 points next Friday.

9pts from the next 3 and Gumpy will be in full forgiveness mode.

What if only 97? They’ve got to keep working on it?

I’d hope there isn’t an derailing effect as there will only be probably 3 of those players starting Friday if there’s no injuries. I think the club needs to decide now wether we need to proactively bring in a couple additions, there’s obviously big question marks over Francis,Castro and Mitchell, my gut is we do if we really want to give it a go.
