You didn't expect them to say "We knew we were going down so we got 20 something players in for a total of £160M in order to win promotion in the 23/24 season", now, did you?
If it's true that's awesome forward planning...
You don't spend that much just to go back down, they've gone for it.
We've managed to get results with a new squad, I don't buy their excuse.

Mind you Fulham spent £100 million on promotion a few seasons back and got relegated, along with Norwich who spent less than £5 million in that season. It needs money to be spent wisely and the team to have a strategy. Mind you can you imagine the players wee Billy would ahve bought given that sort of cash? Nightmare!
Forest fans should be ashamed of saying stuff like “we only want to beat 11 points” ffs
A 160m spend amd the height of your ambition is to get 12 points is a disgrace esp when it was all done with loans taken out by Marikanis makes it worse
We had a bit of an excuse in that we signed utter dross on paper and on the pitch performances as well, our main signings were Earnshaw and Miller and tried to push the boat out for Nugent that was literally it. The rest were dreadful signings and we knew early on the club had pocketed the cash and accepted relegation pretty much from game 1.
Ive heard some Forest fans say its not what its cracked up to ne the prem... did warn them, its a league for the billionaires and media darlings.
We sold Oakley, Howard and Jones as well which makes our net spend that season pretty low
I was miffed by the sale of Jones, amd not persuading Johnson to stick around another season was another bizarre one
We also got the reported £55m debt down to just a £15m mortgage on the stadium
