Mordant - looks great in a swimsuit and no experience of leadership. Hunt - yesterday’s man and those manic eyes give him away. Wallace - could be the best of the bunch but doesn’t appear to want it,

Then on Labour you have Starmer who for me will only ever be a transitional leader for the king over the water. Rayner - god help us. Nandy - thought she had potential and quite fanciable but star seems to be fading. Burnham - maybe but has already been burned twice on leadership. The Beast of Thornberry or Ed Balls’ wife - forget it. Then on the LibDems we have Ed Davey who must be the most boring T*** this side of Christendom.

We are well and truly f***** for a generation.

Couldn’t agree more. Good sum about Hunt being yesterdays man as it’s true and yes Sunak has more baggage ( for more gold ) than anyone. Wallace decent and Burnham too but decent people are generally not power crazed or corrupt!

It doesn't seem to matter much who it is when it is the markets that determine your success or lack of - Johnson is damaged goods and it says a lot about the tories now clamouring for his return in a desperate bid to improve their poll ratings whilst mortgages, energy bills, food and everything else go up in price.

Years of economic misery ahead until prices stabilise & wage rises catch up, affecting million of households, yet we can guarantee millions for Ukraine both now & the next fiscal year but not guarantee help with energy bills beyond 6 months. Millions in foreign aid to countries with space programmes, reducing our gas storage capacity - whatever happened to rainy day thinking, it's a shambles.

People harp on about how badly the NHS is run and that is true to some extent, but what about parliament with it's expenses policy, 800 people in the Lords, subsidised fine dining and awarding lavish contracts to your mates.

I dunno fellas - time for a revolution

Great post WCV. These people who are locked into low mortgage deals will have an almighty shock when deals come to an end as could be paying four times as much.

Attitudes may change on the support given to Ukraine too. Supporting Ukraine v not being able to heat your home or feed your kids? The tide may turn for many in certain situations!

Whilst Truss was a mistake in hindsight she was voted in to keep Sunak out! If this shyster turns around and says his wife has scrapped her Non Dom status and pays every tax including inheritance tax like those who are being shafted perhaps he will be liked a little more!!

Hate extremely rich people who clamber to be in government because of either power or to make even more millions. This is no better than Trump!

So who is the identikit politician then?

Being rich shouldn’t preclude people, being rich doesn’t make you a cheat, liar or total c u n t.

Plenty of middle class and poor people are cheats and liars.

Humans are flawed, you and I have got character traits others wouldn’t like.......who are we to judge who is and isn’t allowed to run the show.

I’ve spent much of the last 10 months exploring my own self and realising it’s not always me that’s got the answers and other people are idiots.

Anyone can be a cheat and a liar - I agree! Those who are rich though can usually pay for expensive barristers to help get off the offence. Bit like those with mental health issues - those who are loaded can afford expensive private clinics.

Those in power in the government indirectly can benefit from lucrative deals to fill their coffers even higher. Sunak and the bird no doubt want even more cash!! Even Harry is looking to get a cool 35 million from his memoirs trashing the royal family. Many poor grand kids would be more bothered about their grand mother than the cash.

Money clearly does not make you happier if you have millions and still want more or you have to sell your soul!

All of the above doesn’t answer the question, who are you going to allow to be an MP?

I would go for Wallace or Mordaunt but got to be the choice of 4,000 members as otherwise it will be Sunak pushed through causing even greater public resentment.

I like you - think the country is crying out for a new party and yes I would have another vote on Brexit as honestly think the majority would want to go back in.

Truss should just do the right thing and resign; she’s the classic case of ambition exceeding ability. If the Tories want to start repairing their reputation (rock bottom, right now), they should unite behind someone and also avoid another protracted vote by the membership. We’re it not for tactical voting by Tory MPs, Penny Mordaunt would almost certainly have beaten Liz Truss to second place in their election process. I suspect that the Tory men would have chosen Mordaunt over Sunak. What an awful shambles, though, how can they be so useless? Worth noting too, that regardless of the views about Boris, it was very much the wrong time to change the PM; the most dangerous situation this country faces at the moment is Russia’s vile war and Boris was handling that quite well. The Conservatives have destroyed themselves from within.

Whatever the solution it ain't re-joining the EU!!!
Have you seen what is happening in Germany, France, Italy, - all the powerhouses of the EU all in deep trouble.
And the EU is run by non democratic bureaucrats who with their Ukraine policy has brought deep economic & social issues to the whole
of Europe. Their sanctions policy has hurt Europe not Russia

Joining the EU would be like rowing towards the Titanic!!!!
