Thread: Arsenal Game

    Arsenal Game

Now the dust has settled a little - a lot of positives out of that. jam tactics were spot on and rattled the form team in the league. Not his fault those in positions to score didn’t and that Ramsdale had a great game.

Had been a little worried about him in that regard and he proved he is able to adapt in this league.

Just needs to work out how to counter the park the bus/time wasting teams.

JM's tactics do appear to be more flexible so in that respect 'some progression'.

Smiler Rodgers plays the 4-3-3 so his Leicester players are expected to press to win the ball back in the opponents half of the pitch, with the fullbacks providing the width & their DMC drops back to provide defensive cover.

None of that is working obviously as the Foxes forums ALL point out.

Their press isn’t effective enough, their fullbacks are getting caught to far up the pitch & to many opponents attacks are finding Leicesters central pairing Evans & Faes stretched & isolated.
So hope for 3 points for us !

With Leicester’s recent poor form Maddison has frequently dropped deep to receive possession off the centre-backs when they are losing.

By receiving deeper, he can attempt his 'eye of the needle' passes to progress possession into the final third. However, Maddison is removing himself from the most threatening areas around goal, despite being Leicester’s key creator and goal-scoring threat - again great for us.

This surely is a game to win ?
With our pace & high intensity press its gonna provide 'chances'.

So for me i really hope JM's not turning up to merely contain Leicester & that he is brave enough to actually give one of our emerging forwards at least 45 mins to get onto some direct deliveries aimed into the box.

Otherwise it'll be Bamford diagonal runs wide hoping to create space for our central runners to latch onto which Leicester no doubt will hope for.
All of our 'improvements' now need to be consistent in individual play & team plays.

Is Maddison not banned for this game?

Leicester are without midfielder James Maddison, who serves a one-game ban after accumulating five yellow cards. Captain Jonny Evans is still missing with a calf issue, while fellow centre-back Caglar Soyuncu is ruled out by an ongoing knee problem.

No excuses now then Calvo -3 points!

Please play someone up front that can score.

This game will produce 5 -10 chances for us. Not really asking to much to have 2 of those in the back of the net. Might even consider subbing in some strikers prior to the 85th minute. Don't see them getting more than a goal.

I know it's early in the season but a loss here means it's time for a new coach. A draw gets a final warning. Some tough fixtures coming up and you have to get points where you should.

To some extent agreed but the front four all need to chip in - look at how the better teams share the goal burden.

How many points have we got from the last 6 games.
But don’t worry, we are making progress and going in the right direction.
3pts away v Leicester is surely a certainty.

    Yeah but.

Junior Firpo recently returned from injury though and he will replace Struijk at the back. “Junior will start and he will be ready,” Marsch added. “I think he’s been patiently waiting and also trying to make sure that he’s sharp, fit and strong so that when he gets called upon, he’s ready to go. So I’m excited for him to have his opportunity now and to show that he’s ready."

I'm sure that's great news for some on here.
