Not sure about my first match but I do recall standing on the Bee Hole End when the weakened first team were playing at Chelsea. I think we were losing 4-0 but brought it back to 4-4. Burnley got fined for fielding a weakened side ahead, I think, of a cup match. No idea what year that was.

I used to go regularly in the 60’s. There was a gated section in what is now the Bob Lord Stand. It was 6d extra to go in there. The wall pitch side was white and relatively low. A great view from there.

It was the 1960/61 season when we drew 4-4 with Chelsea, 3rd round FA Cup and played a "weakened" team because of a European Cup tie in mid-week.

Your memory is spot on with the "Paddock", my granddad used to lift me over the wall, and I kid you not he used to take a little 3-legged stool so I could sit and watch the match from a perch almost on the pitch!

BT, if you remember the 60/61 season? How about (from memory now) we drew in the F A cup about 4 or 5 times with Chelsea?

You can take it Matelot hasn't been there this last 30/40 years Alfie can't you, if he had he wouldn't need to ask.

I also can not remember my first matches but anywhere there was a game of football I would be there. Burnley ,Blackburn or Accy Stanley. The school sent me with two others to train at Accy Stanley, but they were going 'bust,' fat chance they took notice of us as schoolboys. At that point I thought to myself , ''There's no money in football, ( being attached to Accy Stanley, they can not pay wage's to their players!!! ) and phucked off into Villingen, Germanys Black Forrest area .I worked at S A B A, Radio and Television manufactures, after I left and got work with the U S Army in Dachau ,near Munich. At that time I was near the teleprinters ,we got reports of the war Israel and the Arab country's, which interested me very much, the action in the Sinai desert. ( Israel's destruction of Egyptian tanks, Israel crossing into Egypt etc.? Soooooo after I finished there, off hitch hiking south and ???headed to Israel ???

Intriguing story is that one Balan. How does a lad from Rishton become an Israeli citizen?
