Surely the common sense reason for giving a penalty should be primarily if the attacking player is genuinely and unfairly impeded. I have never understood the term ‘winning a penalty’; surely wining a penalty is cheating? It’s a very poor commentator or pundit that refers to winning penalties.

If I was defending any of these players and had the athleticism associated with a top pro I’d just watch the ball and not the body movement and I’d stay within a couple of feet of them.
