    During the World Cup there was mention of last man red cards might not apply if the foul resulted in a penalty.

    I think it's something to do with the seriousness of the foul play?

    I can't be bothered researching this as anything to do with football authorities threatens my blood pressure, but it appears we may have been hard done by.

    Cormack could gain some much needed respect by calling out the SFA on this and paying the resultant fine himself but.....

    My understanding is that it has to do with whether the defender makes an attempt to play the ball or not.

    How on earth can anyone ascertain that with Stewart?

    I think it may be where the goalkeeper is the last defender.

    I think it’s the double indemnity (AKA ‘double dunter’ in Keith) thing where the foul (unless for violent contact like therapist kicking out at Lewis Ferguson a couple of seasons back, the rapey ****) and the concomitant award of the penalty, plus a yellow card is regarded as sufficient.
