Will Wrexham - with the January transfer window - be able to improve slightly more than Notts in the remainder of this season?
Swings and roundabouts. We beat York away where Wrexham only drew. Clearly, not beating a team in the bottom four is a poor result, but these things happen and we'd be deluded to think we're going to play like champions every week. (Boundary Park isn't a place I remember Notts winning at too often, either.) At least we didn't lose; now we need to beat Aldershot on Saturday and get back on track. Then do the same against Boreham Wood.
We also need to forget about Wrexham - they may well overtake us as some point, but we just need to concentrate on our own performances. 58 points after 25 games is still phenomenal, and hopefully it will be 64 from 27 by January 10.
I know Wrexham have spent more money than anyone else but with a few exceptions this seaon when they take the lead home or away the game is over and I fully expect them to win comfatably at SM tomorrow.
Poor result yes but lets get some perspective, every team has bad days (ask any Man Gity fan after yesterday). Who would have been disappointed 9:00am on August 6th if told we would have 58 points after 25 matches?
That's what money buys you if you spend it wisely. The better the player, the fewer the mistakes. The bottom line is that Wrexham should win this league and we're unlucky to be up against such a 'freak' opponent.
That said, we're giving them a bloody good run for their money and you just never know. The weight of expectation on their shoulders could yet become a burden later in the season. We just have to win as many games as we can and try to learn from days like today. It might be good enough, it might not.
