    Same with the Arabesque pass-backs.
If the player has time to turn and play it backwards, they've time to play it forwards.
Or do was I was always told to do when under pressure - "if in doot, hoof it oot".

He was solid. Generally got rid of the ball upfield asap. Only a couple of times did he have his Beckenbauer-delusion but got away with it comfortably. Often provided a useful link at the back receiving the ball and funnelling it out right to McRorie or Kennedy. Always a terrific clearing header.

Credit to Goodwin too, not waiting too long for substitutions. Duk was not having his best game. Obvious substitution was take Duk off and play Ramirez through the middle with Miovski off him. Instead Duk through the middle and two goals.

Shinnie was brilliant today, started off a bit slow but he is exactly what we have been missing in midfield all season. We will be a far better side with him in the team.

Surprised no one has mentioned how bad the referee was today,it was almost like he was trying to make sure we didn’t win today.

Ref was atrocious. Worst moment of all when he didna play advantage after that foul on Besuijen, even though he stayed on his feet for a change and passed forward.

[QUOTE=TheDeeDon;40188011]What a difference having a real Captain makes to a team. OK so Shinnie didn't wear the armband, but no doubt who bossed us today and getting the ref telt.

Yup for me that was one of the most pleasing aspect of the game. Shinnie right in the face of the ref. Was almost Willie Milleresk. TBH I thought Shinnie had an average game but there's so much more to come from him. But without doubt the effect he has on those around him was tangible, McRorie seems to improve with every game at RB.

I've still got huge doubts about Stewart, but possibly Shinnie and Ramadani in front of the defence will have a better impact on his game and our defence in general.
I still scratch by heid trying to figure JG wanting players to play out from defence and then signs Stewart, a strange one.
Not doubting he likes a battle and can cope with the physical side, but his distribution is still a worry.

Scales looked decent coming forward yesterday. Considering McCrorie & Coulsen are also handy enough carrying the ba forward, I see no reason why we can't just keep Stewart back to win a'thing in the air and get rid o the ba ASAP

Sorry to requote this but I've just watched the EFA cup highlights on BBC.

Brizzle City, Naaaarwich and Villa all conceding goals after arsing around at the back.

Aye ... but we didna. Ah thought Stewart had a good game, passing was much better, clearing when required - much better, headed clearances more assertive. I dae think though, that the work o' the mids, and tae some extent, fellow defenders pushin forward gave him yards mair space tae dae an effective job at the back, and never gave him cause tae 'panic' or 'hurry' a pass.

He'll dae fine wi' that kind o' support, and even be effective as he was yesterday.

McCrorie was brilliant. As lang as ye can keep possession, beat opposition players, move the baa forward, and mak decent passes in the opposition half, ye can forget defensive duties for a while

I won’t make any reasons or excuses to keep Anthony Stewart….in my opinion he is a disaster waiting to happen and the first team who actually puts any pressure on our defence will show him up. We need to get rid of him as soon as possible and get a far more accomplished defender in. A professional footballer (central defender in this instance) who plays for Aberdeen should be of the ability to defend properly, be commanding and be able to pass a ball. You can’t just always hoof a ball up the pitch…we must look for better.
