Watters hasn't scored a competitive goal for a year and now we learn he won't be fit to play for a "few weeks".
Ahmad has kept his promise to do our transfer business early. I hope it works out for Watters.
Barnsley Chronicle Reorting.
Max Watters will add ‘express pace’ to Barnsley’s attack but they could be waiting a few weeks for him to get up to full match fitness.
The 23-year-old striker joined on loan from Championship Cardiff City last Thursday until the end of the season.
Watters – who has not played since early November – earned the move to Cardiff with 16 goals in 19 games for League Two Crawley then netted seven in 14 on loan to League One MK Dons on loan last season.
Head coach Michael Duff said: “His goal-scoring record is good in the bottom two leagues. He hasn’t quite made it at Cardiff which is the reason we have got him.
“He’s still young with something to prove. He stretches the back four, constantly looks to get in behind and he has express pace.
“He has been out for a month with a hamstring injury and has had some illness, so we need to get him up to full speed.
“Max wanted to wait a couple of weeks to get himself fully fit but we said ‘get in the building, learn our environment and we can build your minutes.’”

Hopefully he turns art to be a 2 week Woodrow !!
Unbelievable Jeff !
Bleeding hell
Banging the door down to sign him
these clowns want their heads banging together it just might knock some sense into them
it's a fit goal scorer we desperately need to start from the off we've got too many unfit injured players already
another crap signing
How can you say he is a crap signing ? what if we had left signing him until the end of month because he was not match fit , someone else could have nipped in and got him & then fans would have been moaning that we have missed out on another player , we have only played 23 games & have another 23 games to go , there is plenty of time for him to do the business .
Ahmad did say he would get our transfer business done early. His word is his bond.
It is reported Ahmad was "banging on the door" in early January to get Watter's signature on a loan contract.
We are aware of Ahmad's record in signing loan strikers. Tedic is still to produce but that was a blip.
When Watters is match fit in a few weeks he could well explode onto the scene. He will be itching to score that first goal in what will be over a year. The floodgates could then burst open.
