Am I wrong in thinking that Tory ministers awarded billions of pounds worth of contracts to companies they and their cronies were associated with during the Covid farce? Am I alsi wrong in thinking that huge amounts of these orders turned out to be either sub standard or never delivered?
They deserve the jail.
No you are not wrong, maybe guilty of over stating your case. However I'd like to try to get back to trying to help RMT to find a better way to prosecute their case. In my view there should be an acceptable way to run the railways that does not involve the companies who run the franchises paying out dividends if they receive Government subsidies.
The Scittish government does operate a rail franchise and I just wondered how they were doing?
For me RMT don't have a case. They say they're concerned for passenger safety and the service but are completely unwilling to bend on wage demands suggesting it's all about wages and nothing else. Typical lying, two faced, militant union. Unfortunately for them they're up against companies backed by a government that's a lying, two faced (but not militant) bunch of crooks who are better at it than they are. If the RMT is really concerned about safety and service they'll accept what's on the table and insist on the safety improvements becoming imperatives in a time bound improvement plan.
The average rail worker salary in the UK in 2020 was in excess of £45,000, even with the rampant inflation that's ongoing that's not poverty wages and was arond £7,000 PA more than the UK average salary. Why they think they need around 10%v or whatever more is way beyond me. Maybe they should all try a few months on £20,000 PA and see how they cope?
Greedy, greedy union *******s.
Who is going to win? I think the unions may be fighting the wrong battle just now. More pay for them seems to have to be paid by everyone else in the country. How is that a winning strategy? It gives the government the opportunity to stand up for Joe public.
Maybe the civil service jobs should be advertised to show the pay scale including the employer contribution to their final salary pension scheme. Saw a note recently that said the level of employer contribution was over 20% over the salary paid.
