I think he was committed to clearing the ball and Halliday lunges in to try and manages to get the slightest nick on the ball...it looks a lot worse than it was and is a challenge that will happen a lot in football. How anybody can suggest that he intentionally tried to do Halliday is beyond me! If Halliday didn't lunge in..then it would have merely been a clearance. I don't even see it as a tackle and more like Halliday has put his foot in front of someone hitting the ball. Regardless of what the outcome of any appeal...I can guarantee that the rule will not be constantly follwlowed by the rest of the refs. VAR will only ever work if you mic up the ref and we can all hear the reasons for these decisions. It works so well in the Rugby!
