I went to Eves a few times in the early 80’s but always found the place a bit intimidating.

Is it true that Mel Eves owned it?

I never went there but as you say it had an atmosphere. One chap was killed outside on the car park. He wasn't a regular. It was the turf of the lads from the Scotland's.
I know this because I worked with lads who went in, two of them were bouncer's there.
Those kind of places aren't what I call a good night out, best avoided.
