In the interests of fairness, I've just read that the Chief Constable has stated that, given their knowledge of Nicola Bulley's "specific vulnerabilities", the case was designated high risk from the start and 40 officers have already visited 300 plus premises and interviewed over 300 people. The implication being that they have not been solely focussed on the "drowning" scenario. He is either ar se covering in the light of criticism on social media and the press or else he is telling the truth and the issue is one of communication failings. I totally get why some circumstances of any investigation are not made public and I understand that too much public speculation and interference can only hamper investigations but maybe the lesson here is more clarity from the Police in their statements? (mind you, he didn't seem to address criticism of their ability to secure the forensic integrity of the bench area)

It was pointed out by a serving Police Officer on another site how far down the line with a missing person do you go before turning it into a possible criminal investigation and all that goes with it (ie bringing forensics into the picture) Although with these latest revelations, perhaps this should have happened sooner rather than later.

Very strange but something does not add up! Vulnerabilities? Should they not be disclosed? I feel for her family but vulnerabilities does enlighten anyone so why say it! You could say many parents who can’t afford to put food on the table for their children are vulnerable and feel like topping themselves!

Some vulnerabilities should be disclosed by the medics to employers too where the public could be at risk. Remember that German pilot who had mental health issues who crashed the plane full of school children!! Had his employer been made aware his flying licence would have been revoked and rightly so!

It’s highly unlikely she’ll turn up when crashing an aircraft full of people.

If she does, maybe Lord Lucan will be co pilot!

I’ve been in the side of the husband up until today but I just don’t understand this info being released after 20 days.

If she’s vulnerable then this should’ve been made public on day one, I’ve never known this type of info to be withheld in the past.

It would surely make the wider search greater from minute one?

Suicide by drowning yourself is incredibly rare and very hard to pull off I gather.

Surely partner or friends would’ve said something publicly about mental frailties or worries Nicola may have?

Have the police actually ruled her partner out officially yet.......I’m not sure they have?

Totally agree Mick! Something does not add up with this! Don’t believe suicide by drowning either as two loving young kids and does not appear she’s in the river!

Very odd! I guess the vulnerabilities will be her state of mind but if she’s not in the river - this was carefully planned whatever happened!

I hope for the kids there’s a happy ending!

I know a perfectly “normal” bloke who went out for a walk one day and was gone for almost a decade.

Walked away from his job, his wife and kids and his nice home.

It was almost a decade later before he was found hundreds of miles away living at a homeless shelter.

Nobody really knows do they folks, and people sometimes do randomn ill considered things when their mental state is altered that in the cold light of day would have them failing to make sense of it. What's now certain is the police knew she was vulnerable from the off and should have put it out there that she is high risk.

Police are now saying she had “issues” with alcohol that were long term and ongoing.

Also that police and health officials had to rush to the family home on January 10th to deal with an incident of some sort.

Absolutely no mention of this stuff over the past almost three weeks until tonight.

She was obviously suffering mentally so why the Hell did the police not highlight this and more to the point, why didn’t her partner?

Unless he has a very strong alibi he’s starting to come into the frame.

Don’t get why the police feel the need to mention alcohol problems. Couldn’t have been that bad as she had a professional job and no professional employer would cut any slack if their reputation was tarnished. Many have alcohol issues or drink to excess FFS.

Had the police said she suffered from mental health issues or had suicidal tendencies then this would have been more relevant surely!

Shambolic so far and like a jig saw which makes no sense. Surely on the morning of her disappearance she was not over the limit as she drove her kids to school and the husband would have known!

A body has been found in the river near to where the lady disappeared. Hasn’t been officially identified but must be her unfortunately. Makes you wonder though how the various agencies didn’t find her considering all the expertise used.
