There was a pandemic plan in place since 2004, Sweden adopted it, the UK and the devolved bits of it abandoned it.

That is because we have a bunch of thick politicians throughout the U.K. who cannot think for themselves and have to be told what to do by scientists who in my opinion are equally clueless.

The term Mad Scientist may well have been coined with the scamdemic in mind

If we have a bunch of thick politicians I think it is our fault! Look at the state of the military. Every military leader and the entire Ministry of Defence has laid down and rolled over to "facilitate" succeeding reductions in military spending. They are all as guilty as the politicians who only ask " how can we sell these cuts to the electorate? Health service exactly the same. All the union leaders, medical leaders and healthboard members have completely failed in their remits. They have colluded with the politicians to deliver the farce that we have just now. I think we have a bunch of jobsworths in charge of us and they need to change their approach and do the jobs they are supposed to be doing like running the rail service, and tell the politicians what needs to be done.

Democracy is a very simple way of making decisions, it isn't a political philosophy or a set of ethical values. It isn't automatically the right thing to do just because the majority favour a course of action.

Too many reductions in Government spending have been caused by consultants carrying out ‘desk top’ exercises which do not work in everyday life.
This was patently obvious with the shortage of PPE at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to desk top exercises having taken place which were no use.
There is no point in operating a ‘just in time’ policy if large quantities are required immediately.
In my opinion we currently have a bunch of dead beat politicians from local authority level upwards who are only interested in lining their own pockets at taxpayers expense.
In Argyll and Bute we have dead beat politicians from Community Council level upwards but in Dundee you are spared having useless Community Councils which are ‘talking shops’ with nothing getting done.
Every January local authority Councillors tell us that their local authority is hard up and will have to make major cutbacks or greatly increase the council tax.
As usual this is scaremongering by the local authority Councillors who suddenly ‘manage’ to find plenty of money squirrelled away in the council coffers due to a previous lack of spending.
