To be fair, the lack of political talent is not just confined to Scotland.

Indeed. Better to have a shyte government that you can vote out rather than one that is just as shyte but you cannot do a damn thing about?

There’s probably plenty talented people in every nook and cranny of the planet, but who have no desire to mire themselves in the filthy marshes of party politics. It takes a special sort of sado-masochist or embezzler to dive into those swamps.

Nah. I couldn't see that working. It's bad enough with people who volunteer - for whatever reason - to serve.

Just scrutiny and accountability of those who are voted in by a fairer system than FPTP (nothing to do with a hun slogan, of course).

    The executives of parliaments especially.

Hell yes. That would be a real democracy. With technology developing as fast as it is, you could have a population voting in many major decisions.

Would need a massive change in our education system to get people up to the required level for it to work though.

    That's a spot on post.
The smaller the country it's much easier to take to task.

So who’s your new hero, buc, now that shifty Salmond’s been disgraced, and your stiletto-heeled heroine’s fûcked off when the going’s getting tough and the incompetence laid bare for all to see?

    Beware charisma.
