Of course it's true. We, as a nation contribute more to Wastemonster than Wastemonster gives us back in block grant - as do Wales and Norn Oirlund.

What the people that continually spout the 'we wouldn't be able to get the block grant if we were independent' forget is that more cash flows south in tax / NI etc. than comes north in block grant.

Have a think; would any economist, with even a fraction of financial nouse, ever agree to pay out more money than they take in? That only ends in one thing. Mind you - they must be close to that one thing the way the Tories spent money on (ahem) valuable PPE contracts.

Income tax is not fully devolved, Scotland only keeps the extra it decides to punish Scots tax payers by paying above the rate of everyone else in the UK. The Scottish government doesn't even collect it HMRC does and gives them only the Scots tax.

As I said the normal rate of IT which is set by Westminster and collected by HMRC is returned via the Barnett formula, the higher rate of tax the Scots tax is collected and returned by HMRC separately. Scotland doesn't have the power to collect taxes.
