Thread: Welcome Jim Goodwin

Fans expectations are at a real low so he doesn't have to do much to satisfy us. Second bottom then a payoff win, minimum. 😂

..and most fans would take your hand off for that option! I am off the opinion that we have no cards left to play....so we may as well try and do the best with what we have got. At least it is something different and might lift some of the players. The only thing that will rid the apathy felt by the fans will be results...so we may as well get behind the new manager and team and try and help them get results. This season has been nothing short of horrific! One thing for certain is that this mess is nothing to do with Goodwin and any anger caused by his appointment is misdirected if it is aimed towards him! The players, the previous manager, the recruitment team, the goalie coach, sporting director, comms team, Fat Tony, the owner...there are many other people to get mad at before we have a go at Goodwin! He might not be everybodys cup of tea but the rest of them have played a massive part in our current position ! He is the equivalent of a striker being brought on in the 88th minute when you are 2 goals down!

Some people are disappointed with the appointment of a manager we were laughing our bollox off at a few weeks ago, I haven't seen anyone angry at Jim Goodwin though.

I think Goodwin will be a great appointment. He did well at Aberdeen apart from a brief period at the end. Maybe he's more suited to a slightly smaller club where expectations are not so high ..... St Mirren are a great example - similar size to us with less expectation .... it'll be tough this season but I can see him comfortably bringing us back up next season.

He has my full support and as far as I am concerned it's far far better than we had and there's also a chance he will get a positive reaction from a lot of the players, McGrath especially as he was a standout for him at St Murn. All in all if it doesn't work we were heading for relegation under Fox so it cannot be any worse. Good luck Jim.

He’s definitely saying the right things. Words like back to basics aggression and desire in his interviews are all things the majority of the players have been lacking.

I know words are cheap but if he can install some of these attributes within the current crop of players then you just never know.

    All the best Jim

Watched that Sky interview. Seems intelligently enough. Perhaps better manager than Liam Fox and Tam Courts who are laptop Largs manual managers. Maybe Goodwin will be more of a no nonsense leader. Lets hope so. C'mon United!
