    Pyrotechnics

OK, Ah realise some folks here reckon it adds tae excitement an' atmosphere ... but ...

Is it ony better than jist singin oot loud?

If the delays often complained aboot re. VAR decisions are a pain in the pooper, are the delays in clearin' smoke bombs/flares ony mair acceptable?

How much dae such delays impact on the cost o' policin'/stewardin' o' games?

Should there be a fixed, but big b@stard fee whacked on clubs for each pyrotechnic 'event'?

Ma ain opinion? Weel, OK, Ah dae find it excitin' ... but Ah'm nivver at the game, so nae personal risk ... but ... Should the fitba nae be excitin enough? Is it nae?

If uncontrollable (which Ah doubt) ... could there nae be a moratorium whereby ye can fling them on the pitch durin half time fan the players are aff the field, or .. fittivver?

The last few games Ah attended, Ah got in wi ma son ( in a multiple failed attempt tae get him branded as a lifelang sheep ) ... wi an unchecked rucksack full o' rowies, biscuits a' a flask o' hot tea ... Ah could easily hae included a few cans o' beer, a bottle o' whisky, whatever ... and was affa gled Ah didna get searched/challenged. A flask o' hot tea could be an affa thing tae be hit wi - if Ah didna like some c*nt.

But .. it could easily hae been a bag full o' flares ... which wid be worse than a faceful o' hot tea.

Ah jist worry that if the flares/smoke bomb thing is nae dealt wi, then femlies are gan tae end up bein' searched on entry .... flasks opened tae check if there's nae flares in the flask, checked if the tea is nae ower hot, rowies nae impregnated wi razor blades etc ... and resultin in delays gettin the crowd in which will mak VAR delays comparatively as inconvenient as a flech on a rhinos airse.

Although Ah'm nae sure aboot 'Strict Liability' across the board, Ah would support same wi regard tae pyrotechnics .... and Ah would mak the big fines proportional tae a club's annual income/gate receipts or somethin... provided culprit is identified as representing charged club.

Nae perfect, but if it means the risk is lowered tae a point far it's OK for stewards nae tae go rakin in kids schoolbugs ... then go for it ...

    So fit ye sayin?

That's because you look like an upstanding middle class citizen.

Brochred on the other hand had to eat the half dizen rowies I had brought him at a turnstile at Hampden a few years ago.

In general I'm in favour of flares and smokebombs behind the goal, not thrown onto the pitch.
