I'd also like to add that whilst free speech is a fundamental in a democratic society Lineker signed that right away for £1.5m pa , his choice .

The same as in other businesses an NDA exists which again are signed with the intention of keeping your trap shut .

Whilst the Director General may well have donated £400k to the Tory Party and aided Boris Johnson whilst he was PM to attain an £800k loan that most likely led him to the BBC job he hasn't signed an Impartiality Agreement .

It's not something I find particularly great given this Tory government is an appalling one , corrupt , nasty and taking this country down the sewer but none the less the Director General's political leanings aren't the issue .

Lineker's defenders are going down the wrong path with that one and why I stated earlier in this thread , politics and football don't mix and they don't mix when you've signed impartiality agreements .

Jules , immigration , asylum seeking needs an overhaul and made fit for purpose to suit the UK of today .

Most of the asylum laws relevant today go back to the end of WW2 when millions of people were displaced all over Europe , that's clearly not the case today .

The truth is the Tories don't want to find a workable solution because it's in their best interests to direct people's anger at Asylum seekers whilst they continue to fuq us over and as a consequence isn't directed at them .

It's the only currency they have given they have completely fuqed this country over for the last 13 years and can't stand behind their record in government .

    That's all I'm saying Jules .

Some solution has to be found, we all agree. I don’t lean either way politically, but change has to come. Im worried that NOTHING will be done to stop the invasion of criminals entering this country illegally. The burden on our NHS is overwhelming, Health tourism is increasing massively.
We aren’t hearing other parties suggestions on how they will stop it either. I suggest they are keeping quiet as they haven’t a clue either, and it suits the “welcome all” attitude of todays society. Unfortunately todays society is fu’d

His ridiculously large salary could free up the funds that pay for some decent television on BBC and justify the rather excessive fee we pay for a TV licence
    Totally agree

Jules you've never seen an election manifesto by either of the main two party's in UK political history that had anything in it regarding immigration .

The electorate were never asked what they wanted and so could vote accordingly .

The closet you've had was the 2016 Brexit referendum and many people voted leave to end free movement of people from within the EU .

Did Tony Blair ask the country whether it was ok to open the borders up without restriction to fellow members of the EU ? , no he didn't .

Forget all this diversity , providing aspiration and improving lives for people from overseas because it's bollox .

The only currency with immigration is the necessity to provide cheap labour and lots of it at all times .

Not hearing from Labour on immigration - because it’s not getting air time.
Watched an interview with Kinnock MP and their approach was very reasonable.

    We need these boats stopped.
Tories have totally failed in that and other areas.
Latest venture is to give the French £500 Million to sort it.
When it fails - and it will - the Conservatives have then got someone to blame.
£500 Million given away by the Conservatives to get the public off their backs.

    As for Lineker.
Assumptions on here that he has signed a specific contract to keep quiet on social media.
Has anyone seen that contract ???
    Because I haven’t.

And even if the BBC have general guidelines that covers employees on social media - all what BBC employees need to do is say on their profile (as most do that work for such organisations) ‘all views are my own’.

I’m no fan of Gary Lineker - but when a political party starts to gag individuals then that’s the time to take notice.

The Tories haven't gagged Lineker he gagged himself by signing a contract that contained conditions on impartiality , the impartiality contract exists , it's fairly common knowledge YN .

When I say he's gagged himself that's not exactly true because he's had opinions before which were overlooked , you could say there's a certain amount of flexibility surrounding the said contract .

Whether I agree with his comments or not which I do your going to be held to account with regard to impartiality when you cross a line .

Clearly comparing the Tory government to Nazis blows any flexibility within that contract out of the water .

How could it possibly not do ?

“The electorate were never asked what they wanted and so could vote accordingly “

If they had a vote, the result I suspect would be labelled racist….

The word is being widely spread by the Tories and others that Lineker is being impartial by speaking against the Immigration Bill.

He has not spoken/ tweeted directly about the Bill.

What he said was THE LANGUAGE being used when discussing the nature of immigrants is similar to that used in Germany in the 1930's. This LANGUAGE successfully stoked up feeling in German society against those who were not good and true Ayrian Germans.

(Just to save any legal issue Animal I know that you will be aware that the Director General of the BBC is Tim Davie, not Richard Sharp. Richard Sharp is the Chairman of the BBC and it is Sharp who is the Tory donor, ex Tory candidate and currently involved in the inquiry into Boris Johnson's loan and is clearly a person of the upmost impartiality regarding political views.)

BBC supposed impartiality is a fkin joke!
Alan sugar n our esteemed former pm dodgy boris spring to mind
Lineker’s issue is a diversary tactic by our unelected prime minister and corrupt media who would rather us be slating Gary for his honest comments than examine the fkin ‘Laughable deal’ he made with France this week (a good photo opp though)
We’ll done to all his colleagues for backing him up too
No doubt you’ll all be replaced soon by some bame, lgbt+ gobsh1tes who have never played the game
