They obviously didn't look into that bit too closely Wrexham has a population of around 70k and has small villages scattered around it full of rugby folk. I fail to see how they can grow to much more than a L1 club unless they can attract people over the border from Manchester and the like.

Yes but they are banking on the Welsh support so not just Wrexham as Swansea/Cardiff are miles away.

I think they will struggle to get out of league one like Salford are finding league two tough every club has a level as such.

If they take them to league one they will have made their money easily and could cash in.

I think the fact they almost singlehandedly convinced the NL to introduce streaming gives you a clue as to one of their main aims, which will be to grow their popularity worldwide and bank on streaming to be the future of football TV rights (which it will be), along with the increased interest in football in North America. I haven't seen many Reynolds films, but he has a massive following worldwide, it's almost like a cult. He's also a very savvy businessman. I think he's in for the long term with Wrexham and fair play to them, if so.

We have our own owners with their own plan. 2 very different models but both can be successful.

The documentary seems to hold the key to their future, for sure. But I just don't see it having long-term appeal, unless every season is a successful one. Eventually, they'll reach a level where they're just average, or even struggling. That might be L1 or the Championship.

Whatever it is, armchair fans in North America simply won't be interested in watching a team finish 17th. They want success, glory, and entertainment. If they don't get it, they'll quickly move on the next must-see Netflix doc. There are only so many ways you can spin an average football season to seem interesting to people who have no real connection to the club or the sport.

I saw him and Rob McElhenney interviewed when they bought Wrexham.
They wanted to buy a sports club that wasn’t in an affluent area and where the fortunes of that club would have a positive impact on the community.
They’re both savvy so will not be senselessly ploughing their Net worths into Wrexham, but I think they are in it for the long haul and not necessarily looking for any sort of financial return. Not directly, at least.

Exactly this, even there home support has doubled since Hollywood arrived. Disney will drop the show if it has no entertainment value in L2 sitting mid to bottom. They're going to have to be fighting for top spot every year which takes deeper and deeper pockets each year.

Good for them. I really, really hope that somehow, someway we manage to pip them for the title though it's more in hope than expectation. Just to see the look on their faces would be priceless!!!

I share that sentiment, and whenever I dream about it I can't help hearing the Kevin Keegan rant... "I would LOVE IT if we..." (Although I also can't help remembering that that ended badly for KK)

This thread reminds me of all the talk from other clubs supporters when Munto was around, it is what it is, in five years time it will be another club on the merry go round.
