It’s subsidised state farming that’s what. They get a whopping great Government grunt.
I know little to nothing about pig exports to China - Outwood, so found "Pig World", all about porkers.

Pork export recovery continues but China volumes down

what was the KG of yours ?

.... Uk farming never recovered after the Foot and Mouth / Neil Ferguson contiguous cull of the countries livestock....then Defra controlled the show, farmers that survived lost the will to continue, as moving cows from field to field meant reams of paperwork - not a problem for big industrial farmers that dont respect the life of the animal...shed em and stuff em etc.

Well I used to order by size but I just order 'a pig" now as they wont do the smaller pigs, or they will but at the same price. They come in any where between 60-75kg.

going by current "Pig World" pricing......Outwood

    https://www.pig-world.co.uk/news/wee...ig-prices.html

75kg (211.41p/kg) works out at about £180, guess thats from market - add the Butchers cut etc.

just looked at Tesco prices - charging between £6-7kg for their fancy bacon slices...so your pig would have cost you round of £550 - you did good !

Well for a 50kg pig it works out around £4 a kilo now. I used to pay £2.20 not too long ago. In fact Taylors at bamba bridge was even cheaper.

My butcher says they come in at £210 and he chucks £20 on top for storing it for us. We get around 140 a year so the increase has had quite an effect

I am so......I'd eat my greens and leave (or suffer) the meat....the outcome was inevitable.

Bamber Bridge, best Butter Pies in the Northern Prem, I used to love going there just for the pies. Then they went and got promoted and Clitheroe don't play there any more. I miss those pies.

I know the feeling - Sinkov.....I often think about butter pies from a bakery in Cleveleys....have even contemplated postage, family would do it if I asked, but wouldn't be the shop fresh sea air experience..........did you get them at the match or from a bakery ?, worth knowing who/where it seems, and someone has to supply the game, likely they're local.
