    Royal Mail

    Haw Pete,

In the years you worked as a Postie, did you ever have or see any colleagues getting gripped by the IB?

Where I worked at Newton Street there were passageways in the roof with blacked out windows and saw a couple tempted by a plant of a puund note or a fiver planted in damaged letters.

Being a Postie is a trusted role, someone recently sent me a card & it did not turn up… could have been chewed in an ASM?

Has anyone else had mail go missing?

Aye,that letter going missing spoilt my enjoyment of telling bdb that I had sent him a birthday card but in reality it was a Deepest Condolences card due to Rochdale getting relegated into the abyss of non league, cheeky bleeders want more money as well and Saturdays off

I remember a large amount of money went missing from a mail train at Carlisle Station, the invesigation branch found where it had been hidden and got an empty rail carridge pulled up with blacked out windows nearby and sat and waited, sure enough the culprit (a manager) was caught red handed, pretty sure it was kept out the papers as it would have been damaging to RM.

No,only did a couple of years on the letters, before moving on to Parcelforce and branch direct,Newton street rings a bell as i used to do a night shift going first to Girobank in Bootle then on to Manchester but not 100% if it was Newton st.

Newton St brings back memories as that was both the main sorting office for letters, the CD0 & foreign before they built a new one in Ancoats 👍

Basically someone has sent me a dodgy stamp on a card & an ASM rejected the barcode..

Apologies, out on a squirrel hunt with my A-K47 😎

Moan, moan, moan, that's the last time that I spend good money on a birthday card for you and don't blame me because the Rochdale Postal Centre hasn't been updated since Methuselah was a lad
