So the players will lose 50/60% of their wages once relegated according to Adam Crafton who reports for the Athletic.

Also the 49er's takeover is unlikely to happen this/next season.

Lot of players still on the books who are out on loan
    Poveda
    Costa
    Roberts
    Shackleton
Bogusz (think his contract may be up this summer)
    Hjelde
    Drameh
    Joffy
    Cresswell
    James
    Llorente

So potentially a massive squad to prune too.

You would think that Cresswell, Joffy, Shackleton, Drameh and Hjelde would all see a lot of game time if they stay and could create a real bond with the fans - add in gray, Perkins, Gyabi and the kid at left back and that looks like a core to build a decent young side around (assuming we go down)

Like Oz says, there are several on that list who, even if they are recalled (no buy clause in the loan terms), will treat ER as a temporary residence whilst securing a place with a club that respects them (Gelhardt, Cresswell, Drameh, Poveda, Shackleton, Hjelde, all have been well received by their respective loanee clubs), and of the others you mention why would Gray, Perkins or Gyabi stick around when they have been comprehensively ignored to date? Professional careers don't last that long, and it wouldn't be at all surprising for those guys to want to guarantee (not hope for) 1st team game time, wherever they can get it.

With the likely departure of Gnonto, Meslier, Wober and Harrison, the 1st team won't be far of those that Oz mentions in post #15 (If as you say, we are relegated)
