Do Arsenal really hate Tottenham? Do Bristol Rovers really hate Bristol City? Do Fword hate Derby?
Rivalry is a fundamental part of the game, the more intense the better - then it means more. Seems we have to explain this on MAD at least once a year.

Obviously Galatasaray–Fenerbahçe goat sacrificing is pushing it a bit far, though that is no more sickening a spectacle than the pious using football rivalry to preach their virtue, the sort that probably get upset when fans chant "Let him die, let him die, let him die" at an injured player" because they take it literally.

No, hate is a very negative emotion, I felt really happy for my forest mates on Saturday.

Celtic v Rangers is one of the most hostile rivalries in football, but without one another their existence would be meaningless. In fact it's the only thing saving Scottish league football from complete irrelevance.

I have no problem with forest, and dont even mind them doing well. It could actually work in our favour, as it should hopefully drive us on to better things.. Also without them we would not have a decent training ground to use..

Hahaha… Celtic v Rangers is far more than a football rivalry.

Makes you wonder, if Belfast rather than Glasgow had spawned two massive football teams based on the religious divide since the 1880s, would the troubles have reached the same levels of hostility - with a distraction with which to channel some of that energy (revenge, pride, identity etc.) - or would it have made things worse? Maybe I'm being naïve to suggest it might have made any difference whatsoever, but we know how much football *can* matter to people.

Forest fans could not give a toss about Notts other than to wish us well and chuck 50p in the bucket.

We never play each other competitively any more might get the odd game in the cup but now they have stayed up its probably decades away.

Hate is an awfully strong word. So no I don't hate them. I dislike them strongly but I could not hate someone who has helped us out. You don't see Rangers players going on loan to Celtic and so on - that is a hate relationship. Its also a generational thing. Those fans who saw us play Forest regularly are more likely to have a strong sense of rivalry. More recent fans not so much. Given this board is full of old farts you won't get a meaningful response on here anyway.
