I do not think that the club are trying to buy services solely from Dundee supporters. With Nelms putting the shutters up and running down Dens Park I cannot see a stampede of Dundee supporting Tradespeople rushing to sign up which would have happened when Bill Colvin was the Chairman. Sadly these days are long gone.

Maybe they are long gone, but why should it not return. I think you are being very negative about a simple practical approach. Do you really think it would be better for our Club to employ firms outwith Dundee or perhaps firms who sponsor our neighbours?

They should employ the best firm for the work.

No, they should employ the people who will do the job required properly and at least cost.

That is what I meant when I posted that they should employ the best firm for the work.
They should certainly not be showing favouritism to firms because they are a ‘friend of a friend’ and the Club should be getting estimates for the work from several firms before deciding which one to award the contract to.
This should have been planned months ago and not waiting until the last minute because the management of Dundee Football Club did not know where we would be playing our home games next season.
I suspect that if we had still be playing in Championship next season parts of Dens Park would have been closed to spectators as a cost cutting measure.

And there you have it. If money is your sole determinant then things like service and consistency and a feeling of trust, go. The cheapest price for the same specification is not in my experience the best buy. We will disagree on this point.

You may be right that promotion will have encouraged/compelled the club to try to make more seats available. Surely that's a good thing? I am keen to see DFC buy back Dens. I know it isn't an option while Campy is still a possibility, but IMO, spending money to improve our home seems sensible.

It is more likely that the Club have been forced to get these repairs carried out to keep their safety certificate.
I know one thing. When I was cleaning the seats in the Main Stand last July the metal supports beside the Press Box were covered in rust.

On the subject of buying back Dens Park this subject was discussed in the Q and A section of the Dee4life AGM in February 2022.
It was stated that John Bennett would only sell Dens Park to the Dundee FC supporters if all the Dundee Football Club Directors were in favour.
As long as John Nelms is continuing to drag out his new stadium development at Campy Nou a buy back of Dens Park is never to happen because John Nelms will be against it.

Think you are not looking at the possibilities and changed priorities if Campy cannot get planning permission. Be handy if Dee4life could manage to get the Americans to honour their agreement to accept 2 directors nominated by Dee4life members.

If John Nelms abided by the Club’s Customer Charter then we should have 2 directors nominated by Dee4life members on the Dundee Football Club Limited board of directors.
