My daily routine changed 18 years ago when I started selling online Phil, I found myself answering customer messages until late at night.

I went from going to bed at 11.30pm or just after to after 1.00am and it’s gradually got worse, I tend to get into bed around 1.30am to 1.45am now.

My sleep used to them be good but now it’s not, I sometimes take 2 to 3 hours to drop off and I also seem to wake about an hour after dropping off.

I now wake multiple times per night.

One thing that’s worth trying is putting your head down in the afternoon if you’ve had a bad night, I find that because there’s no pressure on you to actually fall asleep in the day it’s often easier to drop off.

I’m very stressed at present and stress now seems to badly affect my sleep pattern.

My missus gets up and makes herself a cuppa if she can’t sleep and then moves to another bed for the night as we have four spare beds!

I now move beds on bad nights and that tends to help, a fresh bed with nobody asleep next to you can be a real help.

I also find that lying close to an open window with a cool breeze can be a help.

Seems I have a similar sleeping pattern to yourself of late. Nod off for an hour then for no known reason I wake up so I lie there allowing thoughts of this and that and regret to swirl around. So i get out of bed and read hoping the eyes become tired sometimes it works most times it doesn't. Might try the open window unless the wife complains of it being cold, as women tend to do.
