Eight years after a move from Aston Villa, Matt Lowton will leave the club at the end of his current contract.

The right back made 203 appearances for Burnley over seven seasons, helping the Clarets secure a return to European football for the first time in 51 years in 2018.

Of his three goals for the Club, Clarets fans will remember a stunning volley in Burnley’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in February 2021.

We can also confirm that Goalkeeper Will Norris will leave the Club at the end of his current contract.

Having joined from Wolves in the summer of 2020, Norris made three appearances for the Clarets before a loan move to Peterborough United in January this year.

Goalkeeper Lukas Jensen will also depart Turf Moor upon his contract expiry at the end of this month.

Jensen joined the Clarets in the summer of 2019, becoming a regular in the Academy’s U23s side and featured on the bench for the senior team in the Premier League’s Project Restart the following year.

The 24-year-old has spent the past season on loan at Accrington Stanley, making 35 appearances.

At the Academy, U21s Frankie Deane, Joe McGlynn, Ayodeji Sotona, Lewis Thomas, Seb Thompson, Ne-Jai Tucker, Jacson Coppack, Keelan Williams, Jacob Hamilton, Dane McCullough, Kade Ratchford and U18s Nathan James, Trevon Bryan, Tosin Olopade are also set to embark on new chapters in their careers this summer.

Club captain Ash Eastham and club stalwart Jason Lowe are amongst those who will be departing The Peninsula Stadium following the expiry of their contracts at the end of June.

Ash made 93 appearances across all four of our seasons in the Football League, and captained us to our first piece of EFL silverware at Wembley when we lifted the Papa Johns Trophy in March 2021. This season appearances have been limited for the 32-year-old due to injury, but we wish Ash and his family all the very best for the future.

Lowey was signed in 2020 as we embarked upon our second season in the Football League, and was a near ever-present in his first two seasons. He scored the winning penalty in the Papa Johns Trophy Final shootout against Portsmouth, and in 2021-22 won both the Players’ Player of the Season and the Salford City PFA Community Champion awards.

He made 125 appearances as a right back, central midfielder or a centre back, scoring twice including a memorable long-range goal away at Hartlepool United in March 2022. Our best wishes go to Jason and his family, and good luck with what comes next for you.

    Elliot Simões

The club are also in discussions with Blackett as well.I think it's pretty clear that MT wants Hall,Morrison and Blackett along with Humphreys as the centre half options next season. That looks great on paper but can they be trusted to stay fit?

Personally I think Morrison is a sized beast of a player….. big gamble but our “King” has left so we need a colossus at the back and within our budget Morrison fits that bill.

When we were over and shopped there I couldn't believe the bill! Then again none of Asda, Tesco, the Co-op, Aldi, Lidl seemed much better

Apart from the playoff finalists I’ve not seen anything from Cardiff, Norwich, Sheffield Utd, Sunderland, Watford & Peterborough.

Reading this thread makes you realise how many players are involved in Pro football, and how many will be looking for a new employer.
For most EfL players it's a short and at times, precarious career, you can understand why people like Smith go for one last big pay deal.
